The Future of Heart Care Starts in the Central Valley

May 4, 2026

When it comes to the heart, every second matters.

At Adventist Health Hanford, we are ready. Our physicians are here. Our patients are here. The need is here.

What we don’t have — is enough space.

Today, nine highly skilled physicians across multiple specialties all share a single cardiac catheterization lab — the room where lifesaving procedures happen. In simple terms, this is where doctors go inside the body using tiny tools and imaging to open blocked arteries, restore blood flow, and treat serious heart and vascular conditions — often without major surgery.

That one room is used by four different types of specialists:

  • Heart doctors (cardiology) treating heart attacks and blocked arteries
  • Blood vessel specialists (vascular) improving circulation throughout the body
  • Image-guided specialists (interventional radiology) treating internal conditions without open surgery
  • Heart rhythm specialists (electrophysiology) correcting irregular heartbeats

All of them rely on the same space, every day, for patients whose conditions simply cannot wait.

And yet, they often have to.

We are not building for the sake of building.
We are expanding because our community needs us to.

Kings County is growing, and so is the demand for advanced cardiac care. We already have the specialists and the patient volume. In fact, more and more patients are being referred to Hanford because of the high level of expertise available right here at home.

“The physicians at Adventist Health are knowledgeable and experienced,” shared Dr. Kiran Reddy, cardiologist. “We are seeing more patients referred to Hanford for a higher level of care. We are becoming the hub for excellence.”

But without additional space, we cannot meet that demand as quickly or efficiently as our patients deserve. At times, patients must be transferred out of the area for procedures we are fully capable of performing—simply because we don’t have room.

This expansion changes that.

By increasing the number of cath labs, we can treat more patients, faster — reducing delays, keeping care local, and improving outcomes when minutes matter most.

“This is a project everyone can rally behind,” shared Patrick Hoffman, Director of Cardiopulmonary Services. “It directly impacts the level of care we are providing to our community.”

And this is only the beginning.

With this expansion, we are building toward something even greater: establishing Adventist Health Hanford as a true cardiac center of excellence, with a clear path toward offering open heart surgery right here in our community.

This is not about a building.
This is about access.
This is about saving lives close to home.

Through philanthropy, we have the opportunity to move faster, to do more, and to ensure that when our patients need us most, we are ready.

Together, we are building the future of cardiac care in Kings County.
